BACP-BLUE Meeting Notes March 2, 2026, 7:00 pm 1. Review the BLA Indivisible Power of the People Presidents Day rally and follow-up discussion held on Monday, February 16. 2. Review the Saturday, February 21st "Hands Off" poster creation event and vigil held in Brainerd. Three people showed up to make posters but seven were at the demo. Mostly positive response. 3. Review of 11:00 am Tuesday, February 17th, Stauber protest event. Stauber's office cancelled his appearance the day before so event was also cancelled. 4. Discuss plans to host an online concert and discussion with English-Nicaraguan musician Paul Peuleve Baker on Tuesday, March 3rd at 7:00 pm: Paul can offer three segments, each with a. Relevant song. b. Brief exposition on the theme by self. c. Q&A, comments, discussion. Total time, roughly 60 minutes?, The Two Faces of Sandino: Revolutionary Guerrillero; First True Rainbow Warrior. Gringos gone, victorious Sandino had no interest in the presidency. Instead, he returned to his 'Comuna' at Wiwili to organize national/international society based on indigenous wisdom, cooperatives & care for the Earth. Make Earth Green Again (MEGA trumps Maga!) Past time for a positive, inclusive, non-violent, Earth-based movement, seeking to fulfil Beethoven's 'Ode to Joy' and bring Martin Luther King Jr's 'Beloved Community' a little closer. Yanira Merino. Refugee. Death Squad Target. 'New Mother Jones of the Union Movement'. An astonishing, profoundly moving & inspiring story of one of the extraordinary people Trump, Miller, Bondi & Co. are seeking to deny the USNA people. The Great Embracement FACT trumps the Great Replacement Theory. I had the privilege to support her & her family while they were being attacked by death squads - in the heart of LA. Others speak about their work. 15 minutes total? I try to respond to others' interests/concerns. For example, someone already wants to know about the Nicaraguan government's work. 30 minutes? Announcements. 10 minutes? Closing song and farewells. 5 minutes? By some extraordinary fluke, that totals exactly two hours. Sound OK? Great thing of us all being online at home, we can just switch the camera off, go for a snooze, and still appear to be present. Julius from BLADSA will host the event. 3. Plan the upcoming BACP-BLUE Gaza peace vigil scheduled for Saturday, March 7. The Gaza peace vigil will be held at the intersection of Sixth and Washington Streets, Brainerd, across from the historic Brainerd water tower. The vigil is scheduled to last from 1 to 2 p.m. May also include references to Iran as that's all about the genocidal entity of Israel, too. 4. Discuss plans for co-hosting an Earth Day showing of a Dark Skies film with the Lakes Area Environmental Table (LAET). https://lightedu.eu/en/saving-the-dark.html. BACP/BLUE members agreed to co-host the event. The film is about light pollution. Members present suggested April 25th as a possible date. Dean will find out if we have any responsibilities besides being there. Doug will bring the water a supporter dropped off at our February 21st protest. 6. Discuss/Schedule the BACP Highway Cleanup Highway cleanup will be May 23th at 11 a.m. Treasure’s Report This writer did these notes from memory as she lost the notes that were taken during the meeting. We do have $733.33 in our treasury.
